Fire Station of Drensteinfurt
A Therm Liner System from the company Uhrig was installed in the existing sewers to heat the Fire station for the volunteer fire service in the german town of Drensteinfurt.
With only seven Therm Liner elements having been installed there wa still sufficient energy being recovered from the sewen network to additionally heat the adjacent sport club room and a local restaurant.
The connecting pipes from the sewer to the facilities were installed in a using a trench.
An antifreeze additive was used in the system as a precaution against freezing.
The waste water that flows constantly in large quantities through the sewers under our cities has, up to now, been neglected as an energy source.
The energy that exists in this waste water can be used to heat or to cool buildings.
The Therm Liner System from Uhrig is installed into the existing Sewer network and the waste water simply flows over the elements. The energy is then extracts by means of a heat pump system and introduced into the buildings existing heating or cooling system for use.
