Therm Liner is the patented heat exchange system from Uhrig Kanaltechnik GmbH that extracts the energy from waste water flowing in the City Sewers which is then used to heat or cool buildings.
The standard heat exchange systems from Uhrig which use water as a medium flowing through the doubled walled Therm Liner systems to extract the energy from the waste water, is already seen as a revolutionary method, a tried and tested System which has drawn much attention in the professional circles.
This Therm Liner System which has constantly undergone development has now evolved to this new pilot system.
The new generation of the Therm Liner System that is to be installed into the new buildings of the German Federal Government for Reactor Safety, Environmental and Nature Protection in Berlin (BMU) does not use water as an Energy carrying medium. The system has been adopted to be connected directly into a heat pump System circulating the gas medium which is capable of extracting more energy than water.
By doing this a middle step is left out of the system which increases the energy yield and reduces the energy loss which normally occurs during the energy transfer from one closed circuit water system to the other gas System in the heat pump. This means that it is now technically and economically possible to obtain a larger quantity of energy from existing waste water which reduces even further CO² emissions and the impact on the environment.
It also reduces the electrical energy required for the heat pump as the Therm Liner System is now incorporated directly into the closed circuit system of the heat pump.(a direct gas expansion and compression then takes place)
With the realisation of this project the German Federal Government working in joint venture with Uhrig Kanaltechnik GmbH, have moved into a world forerunner and pioneer position for this leading Energy Recovery Technology.
Over the last few years the Therm Liner Technology for recovering energy has been closely observed and monitored with interest by the national and international professions in the renewable energy world.
With the peak efficiency reached reduction of CO2 emissions and effective cost reductions the demand for Therm Liner installations is steadily increasing throughout Europe and other parts of the world.
