The Economy and Reason

Our energy consumption in Germany has been sinking for years as we now have better technologies, use energy more efficiently and deal with it more judiciously. At the same time, however, the world`s demand for energy is continuously growing.

The fossil fuels still available are limited. Nonetheless, the supply is still very high and the costs to develop and extract them remain affordable. In the long term, however, the sources of fossil energy will become a highly desireable and very expensive commodity.

Regenerative energies can provide us with an alternative, but here the relationship between investment and benefit has to add up. In addition, not all alternative technologies can be applied everywhere. In this context, recovering energy can be the tool of choice.

• Energy costs
  
  Since 2000, the prices for our fossil fuels have been increasing continuously, albeit with significant fluctuations. As a consequence, we are spending more money for energy, although we are using less and less of it. A change in this trend is not currently foreseeable.
